You can! On iOS and Android apps, start a movie, then tap the > icon, and exit the app.
On iOS, swipe up from the bottom to view active apps, then click outside to access the iPhone menu. You will see the mini player with the medici.tv video at the top of your iPhone's home screen. Make sure not to touch or swipe the medici.tv app screen, as that would close it.
On Android, if you have activated the navigation buttons, press the overview button (the square one). This will display all the apps that are currently active on your phone. Tap outside to reach your device's home screen. You will see the mini player with your medici.tv movie overlaying your Android phone's home screen.
This mini player feature is known as Picture-in-Picture.
